Worm gear reducer, as a common reduction transmission device, is composed of worm gear, worm wheel and housing. Its function is to slow down the high-speed rotating power source and transmit the power to the output shaft, while reducing the speed of the output shaft, increasing the torque of the output shaft, and providing suitable working speed for the driven equipment. It belongs to the category of mechanical equipment. Worm gear reducers have significant advantages such as small size, simple structure, strong load-bearing capacity, high transmission efficiency, and high transmission accuracy. They are widely used in the field of construction machinery, as well as in many industries such as chemical, food, pharmaceutical, power, textile, printing, and agricultural machinery.

Although worm gear motors have good durability and reliability, some common faults still occur in practical use. Next, we will introduce some common faults and corresponding solutions.
Heating of the gearbox
The worm gear reduction motor is designed to improve operating efficiency, and the worm gear used is mainly made of hard steel, while the worm gear is mainly made of non-ferrous metals. Therefore, during the operation of sliding friction transmission, the worm gear reducer will generate a large amount of heat, causing the temperature of the reducer to rise. The increase in temperature of the worm gear reducer will cause deviations in the fitting of various components inside the reducer due to differences in thermal expansion coefficients, resulting in clearance between the fitting surfaces. During work, the worm gear reducer may experience high temperatures beyond the standard range due to friction and energy loss. If the temperature exceeds the standard, the gearbox should be stopped immediately, and the lubrication condition and heat dissipation system should be checked to identify and solve the problem of excessive temperature rise as soon as possible, in order to prevent more serious damage to the gearbox.
internal fault
After long-term operation, the bearings of gear reducers may experience wear and jamming, such as wear of raceways or rolling elements, aging of bearing grease, and other problems, usually manifested as rusting, corrosion, and other phenomena on the bearing surface. The main causes include emulsification of gear oil and insufficient lubrication. After running for a period of time, the gear oil produces condensed water and water due to the increase in temperature and cooling, which mixes with each other, resulting in lubrication failure. As long as we replace the worn gears in a timely manner and ensure the supply of bearing lubricating oil, we can guarantee the correct fit. If the bearing clearance is too large, it can also cause gear swing or offset. The solution is to adjust the bearing clearance to ensure that it is within the specified range. It should be noted that lubricating oil, as an important component of the gearbox, can play a role in lubrication, sealing, and cooling. Regular replacement of lubricating oil can ensure the normal operation of the gearbox and extend its service life.
