Single phase asynchronous motors are widely used in household appliances such as water pumps, electric fans, exhaust fans, washing machines, etc. due to their small size, simple structure, and convenient power supply. However, since single-phase motors cannot generate a rotating magnetic field, capacitor phase separation is required to rotate the motor, so the connection method is different from that of three-phase motors.
Electricians sometimes encounter the wiring of single-phase asynchronous motors. For example, if the capacitor and power cord of a single-phase asynchronous motor are not connected, can you connect it properly? We are not discussing principles here, only practical operations.
This is a single-phase asynchronous motor. There were no wires in the original junction box, but I connected the wires. The red and white wires are power lines, and there is no cover or nameplate on the junction box. Only two capacitors are connected to the terminals inside.
If this motor without a nameplate was not originally connected to a capacitor, it is likely to be mistaken for a three-phase asynchronous motor. Since there is a capacitor, it is definitely a single-phase motor, but I used a multimeter to measure the resistance values of each terminal to determine. Placed as shown in Figure 1, the upper end of the junction box is W2, U2, V2, and the lower end is U1, V1, W1.
Connect capacitor C1 between C2, V2, and W1. Please refer to Figure 1. Short circuit the red wire between U1 and V1, connect the blue wire, and then connect the red power wire. Short circuit the red wire between U2 and W2, then connect the yellow green dual color wire, and finally connect the white power wire. After comparing with the actual product, power on and test run the machine normally. Have you learned?
