The treatment method for abnormal noise of planetary gearbox
Planetary reducers are mainly composed of single-stage or multi-stage planetary gear systems, which have the characteristics of compact structure, small volume, and high transmission efficiency. Abnormal sound is a common problem with gearboxes; Due to the heavy load and harsh working environment of planetary gearboxes, they are more likely to cause abnormal noise. There are five main reasons for abnormal planetary gearboxes.

1. There are foreign objects inside the body
The abnormal sound is clear and irregular. The main reason is that during the assembly process, foreign objects (such as small parts, assembly tools, etc.) accidentally fall into the gearbox. If this situation occurs, foreign objects should be removed and the gears should be checked for damage.
2. Damage and detachment of parts
This is a clear and irregular response. Because planetary gearboxes often suffer from significant load impacts, under the continuous action of the load, components such as bearings and gear teeth are damaged, resulting in detachment, with the damaged parts falling off the body. It caused different sounds. Clean up parts of the body in a timely manner and replace damaged parts.
3. Large bearing clearance
This abnormal sound is clear, continuous, periodic, and increases with speed. A bearing is mainly composed of four parts: inner ring, outer ring, rolling elements, and cage. A large bearing clearance means that the clearance between the rollers and the inner and outer rings is too large. During operation, the rolling elements collide with the inner and outer rings, producing abnormal noise.
4. The clearance between gear teeth is too large
This abnormal noise is turbid and usually occurs at the starting point of the gearbox, disappearing during continuous operation. In gear meshing transmission, in order to form a lubricating oil film between the meshing tooth profiles and avoid jamming caused by friction and thermal expansion of gear teeth, there must be a gap between the tooth profiles, which is called backlash. If the side clearance is too small, thermal expansion will cause the meshing gears to jam; But if the gap is too large, a strong impact force will be generated at the moment of contact between the teeth, resulting in abnormal impact noise.
5. Non concentricity between parts
This type of noise is turbid, continuous, and periodic; Under normal circumstances, the concentricity difference between different parts does not affect the performance of the product. However, if this difference exceeds the allowable range, it will produce different noises and even affect the service life of the reducer. Due to the different concentricity between parts, abnormal meshing of gears, uneven load distribution, and uneven force distribution will occur. Under the action of this unbalanced force, different sounds will be produced.
The reasons for the different sounds produced by planetary gearboxes are multifaceted. When abnormal noise occurs, the operation should be stopped. Firstly, it is necessary to start from the characteristics of different sounds, determine the cause first, then analyze the specific reasons, and solve the problem in a timely manner to avoid continuous damage to the gearbox and even affect production safety.
