What equipment are servo motors generally used on? How to choose? Let's talk to everyone today.
Servo motors are generally used in CNC machine tools, or robotic arms (known as manipulators or robots) or some specialized precision equipment. Nowadays, CNC machine tools are developing rapidly and are very advanced, and have generally entered high-resolution precision CNC systems. Numerical control machine tools are machine tools controlled by digital signals from electronic computers. The technology of open CNC systems based on general industrial control microcomputers has developed from ordinary general machine tools to multi axis linkage CNC systems. Five axis CNC machining technology is a commonly used means of machining continuous, smooth, and complex surfaces.

Five axis linkage CNC technology is the most difficult and widely used technology. It integrates computer control, high-performance servo drive, and precision machining, and is applied to the high, precision, and pointed automation machining of complex surfaces. Internationally, this technology is regarded as a symbol of a country's level of automation in production equipment. Especially for the aviation, aerospace, and defense military industries, they play a significant role. Developed countries in Europe, America, and the West have blockaded them as strategic materials and monopolized their technology. For example, Toshiba of Japan transferred this technology and equipment to the Soviet Union at the end of the 20th century, which caused a major uproar due to US sanctions. At that time, CNC machine tools, boring and milling machines, and machining centers were imported. Germany was advanced, but now we can also manufacture and export them. For example, in a robotic arm, the robot's movements are controlled by servo motors, which control multiple degrees of freedom in order to move as required. These are all thanks to the servo motor.
So let me explain why servo motors are used in CNC machine tools and robotic arms. Simply put, servo motors have accurate positioning with an accuracy of 0.001mm. For CNC machine tools and robotic arms, accurate positioning is important because it involves production quality. Servo motors can adjust any angle, speed, and torque control, which are all required by machine tools and robotic arms. Nowadays, robotic arms are widely used, can work continuously, and rarely make errors, so product quality is also getting better and better.
The selection of servo motors generally starts from several aspects:
1. The maximum speed of the motor is related to the travel time of the machine tool, that is, the operating speed.
2. Inertia matching and load inertia are related to the stability and accuracy of equipment operation.
3. The no-load acceleration torque involves the speed of the motor from zero speed to rated speed.
4. The load torque, such as cutting load torque, shall not exceed 80% of the rated torque.
5. Continuous overload time should be controlled within the allowable overload time range of the motor. The remaining considerations include economy, delivery time, and quality assurance
