The main cause of motor burnout is the decrease in insulation performance caused by coil moisture in humid environments. Therefore, motors that have been stored for a long time, exposed to accidents such as immersion and flooding, or have measured insulation resistance values below 0.5 M Ω, cannot be used directly without repair or drying treatment. The motor should be dried under the guidance of professional personnel, and can only continue to be used after the insulation resistance returns to normal.

The following methods are usually used to dry damp motors: circulating hot air drying method, bulb baking drying method, alternating current drying method, low-voltage direct current drying method, and iron loss drying method.
01
Circulating hot air drying method
Use insulation materials to create a drying chamber with air outlets on top and air inlets on the sides, which are connected to the heating chamber. Install a 220V heater of around 3 kW in the heating room, and use a hair dryer to blow the hot air from the heating room into the drying room to dry the damp motor. The temperature of the hot air in the drying room should be controlled at around 100 ° C and should not be too high.
02
Light bulb baking and drying method
Install several incandescent bulbs or infrared bulbs in a drying room made of insulation material with air vents and thermometer sockets, with a power configuration of approximately 4-5 kW per cubic meter of box volume, to bake damp motors. It can be baked around or the motor rotor can be pulled out and an incandescent bulb can be placed inside the stator cavity for baking, but it should be noted that the bulb should not be too close to the coil to prevent it from burning out. Canvas or other materials can be covered on the motor casing for insulation.
03
AC drying method
Pull out the motor rotor and feed the three-phase low-voltage AC power into the three-phase winding. The voltage value should be 7% to 15% of the rated voltage of the winding, and the current should not exceed 50% to 70% of the rated current of the winding. To avoid excessive current, an ammeter should be connected in series in the three-phase circuit. If the current is too high, the voltage should be lowered in time before drying. It is recommended to use an induction transformer for voltage regulation.
