In the reducer family, the planetary reducer is widely used in the drive system of servo, stepping, DC brushless and other control motors (hereinafter referred to as drive motors) because of its small size (basically the same diameter as the motor), high transmission efficiency (85~90%), wide deceleration range (1:3~100), high precision (small return difference) and many other advantages. On the premise of ensuring precision transmission, it is possible to reduce the speed, increase the torque, and reduce the ratio of load to the rotational inertia of the driving motor. However, in practical use, faults often occur due to improper installation, and shaft breakage of reducers and drive motors is one of the main types of faults. The analysis of the mechanism of shaft breakage is beneficial for customers to understand how to correctly install planetary gearboxes and better utilize their functions.

Proper installation, use, and maintenance of reducers are important steps in ensuring the normal operation of mechanical equipment. Therefore, when installing the planetary gearbox, please strictly follow the installation sequence below and assemble it carefully.
Step 1: Before installation, it is necessary to confirm whether the motor and reducer are intact and undamaged, and strictly check whether the dimensions of each part connected to the drive motor and reducer match. This refers to the dimensions and fitting tolerances between the positioning protrusion and shaft diameter of the drive motor flange and the positioning groove and hole diameter of the reducer flange; Wipe and treat the dirt and burrs on the surface.
Step 2: Unscrew the screw plug on the process hole on the side of the reducer flange, rotate the input end of the reducer to align the hexagonal socket screw cap with the process hole, insert the hexagonal socket tool and loosen the hexagonal socket screw.
Step 3: Hold the drive motor and make the keyway on its shaft perpendicular to the screw holding the input end hole of the reducer. Insert the drive motor shaft into the input end hole of the reducer. When inserting, it is necessary to ensure that the concentricity of the two is consistent and the flanges on both sides are parallel. If there is inconsistency in the alignment or the two flanges are not parallel, the cause must be identified. In addition, during installation, it is strictly prohibited to use hammering, which can prevent excessive axial or radial force from damaging the bearings of both parties, and can also be judged by the assembly feel to determine whether the fit between the two is appropriate. The method to determine the compatibility and parallelism of the two flanges is as follows: after inserting them into each other, the flanges of the two are basically tightly attached and the gap is consistent.
Step 4: To ensure even force distribution in the flange connection between the two, first tighten the fastening screws of the drive motor arbitrarily, but do not tighten them; Then gradually tighten the four fastening screws diagonally; Finally, tighten the locking screw of the input end hole of the reducer. Be sure to tighten the fastening screws of the drive motor first, and then tighten the locking screws of the input end hole of the reducer. Attention: The correct installation between the gearbox and mechanical equipment is similar to the correct installation between the gearbox and the drive motor. The key is to ensure that the concentricity between the output shaft of the reducer and the input shaft of the driven part is consistent.
