Gear reducer, worm gear reducer, planetary gear reducer, and hybrid reducer. The four types of reducers have different structural characteristics, transmission efficiency, and application ranges, as follows:
Gear reducer

Structure: It is a reducer that uses various levels of gear transmission to achieve the purpose of reducing speed. According to the meshing characteristics of gear pairs, including parallel axis, vertical axis, and helical gear reducers.
Features: Simple structure, suitable for various transmission needs, but usually large volume and average transmission efficiency.
Difference: Compared with the other two types of reducers, gear reducers usually have higher transmission efficiency because the meshing between gears is more direct and the energy loss is smaller. However, its structure is relatively simple and may not have higher transmission accuracy or lower noise than other reducers in specific situations.
Application: Widely used in various mechanical transmission systems. The general high-speed shaft speed is not greater than 1500 revolutions per minute, the gear transmission circumferential speed is not greater than 20 meters per second, and the working environment temperature is -40-45 ℃. It can be used for both forward and reverse directions of operation.
Worm gear reducer

Structure: It is mainly driven by worm gears and worm gears to achieve deceleration and transmit torque.
Features: It has reverse self-locking function, which can achieve a large reduction ratio. The input shaft and output shaft are not on the same axis or plane. Usually, gear reducers with the same reduction ratio have a smaller volume, but their transmission efficiency and accuracy are not high.
Difference: The transmission ratio of worm gear reducers is usually larger, usually between 10:1 and 60:1, which gives it an advantage in situations where a larger reduction ratio is required. In addition, due to its structural characteristics, worm gear reducers usually have a small volume and weight, making them easy to install and use.
Application: Mainly used in low-speed, high torque situations that require self-locking function, such as lifting machinery, conveying machinery, metallurgical machinery, etc
Planetary gear reducer

Structure: Composed of a sun gear, planetary gears, and internal gears. Features: Compact structure, high precision, high torque, high transmission efficiency, and lifetime maintenance free, with low noise and strong load-bearing capacity. However, compared to gear reducers and worm gear reducers, processing and manufacturing are more complex and difficult. Applicable to situations that require high precision and high transmission efficiency: The transmission ratio of planetary gear reducers is usually small, usually between 3:1 and 10:1, which gives it an advantage in situations that require smaller reduction ratios. In addition, the compact structure of planetary gear reducers makes them more suitable for applications with limited space. Meanwhile, due to its high-precision transmission characteristics, planetary gear reducers are usually used in situations where high transmission accuracy is required.
Hybrid gearbox
It is precisely because of the different characteristics and transmission efficiency of gear reducer, worm worm reducer and planetary gear reducer that hybrid reducer comes into being. The so-called hybrid reducer refers to a reducer whose structure includes at least two of the three types: gear pairs, worm gears, and planetary gears (there are also structures that combine all three types). The hybrid reducer achieves a balance of requirements in terms of volume, transmission efficiency, accuracy, and load-bearing capacity. In practical applications, people are accustomed to referring to hybrid reducers containing worm gears as "worm gear reducers"; A hybrid gearbox containing planetary gears is also known as a "planetary gearbox".
